What is the Strategist II MD Network?
The Strategist II MD Network is open to any licensed teacher who is interested in gaining an endorsement to teach students with moderate to severe cognitive needs. The Network, sponsored by the Iowa Department of Education, provides opportunities for coursework offered jointly via two teacher preparation programs at campuses around the state and through distance education. The program assists teachers in adding the Strategist II MD endorsement to an existing license through increased access to necessary coursework from the University of Northern Iowa and Morningside College, as well as the opportunity to meet minimum state requirements for endorsements. Once teacher competencies have been met, the Department of Education, rather than an institution of higher education, recommends the teacher for the endorsement. Participants have access to a counselor/advocate who provides transcript analysis and assistance in accessing coursework.
